Oyster Bay Accommodation

Garden Route Accommodation

Oyster bay is a small seaside village located along the famous garden Route of South Africa. Nestled within the Eastern Cape, this village is about 125 km from Port Elizabeth and just outside Humansdorp, St Francis Bay and Jeffreys Bay.

This makes it central and convenient to access, despite being tucked away in quiet solitude. The Garden Route is the official coastal route between the Eastern Cape and Cape Town.

The area now known as Oyster Bay was once a farm called Graskop and was developed by Carl and Febe van Tonder in the 60’s as a resort and now comprises well over 400 plots and holiday homes as well as Guest houses, Convenience store and resort.

To reach Oyster Bay, visitors and residents must travel on dirt roads that are lined by coastal vegetation and many Dairy Farms.

While there are permanent residents, it is very popular as a holiday destination. Its appeal lies mainly in the isolation from other modern epicenters and its rustic approach to coastal living. The vast majority of homes are within easy walking distance from the beach and warm refreshing Indian Ocean waters to swim or surf in or just to laze in the sun on the beach.

The beach is spectacular- boasting long stretches of unspoilt golden sand and stunning rock formations and wild waves. Having this natural gem so close and accessible means that Oyster Bay is fabulous for young and old, couples, families, lone surfers and kite surfers seeking solace from the bustle of City life.

Oyster Bay is famous for Rock Fishing and Beach angling with many species of local and game fish caught by avid and amateur Anglers.

It is home to two ecological sites, unique for their beauty and value. One is the wind- rift Dune Ridges and the other the Dune Fynbos (currently endangered)

Oyster Bay really is a secluded hideaway full of fascinating surprises.
